German Measles (Rubella) Epidemic and Research Before Roe In-Person
Leslie J. Reagan, Ph.D. is a Professor of History, Law, Gender and Women’s Studies, and Media Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She appears frequently on National Public Radio and various podcasts, including the Ezra Klein Show, and has written for the Washington Post, Slate, Ms. Magazine and other local and national publications.
In this lecture, Dr. Reagan will discuss how national anxiety about birth defects generated new public discussion about abortion law reform in the early 1960s and examine how women’s experiences of pregnancy influenced vaccine development, comparing past epidemics to the
current Coronavirus epidemic.
